  1. Appointments are dependent upon availability of funds, academic merit of the applicant, GRE/GPA and TOEFL or IELTS scores, socio-economic factors and specialized knowledge or skills.
  2. Students must be enrolled in the School of Information master's or doctoral program. A student on academic probation or working off conditions from admission is not eligible. Continuing students must be making satisfactory progress toward their degree.
  3. Within the overall guidelines of the University of Texas at Austin, the SI Awards Committee may make judicious exceptions to the above policy.

Types of Awards Available Through the School of Information

Academic Competitive Scholarships (named ACS Awards)

  • Based on academic standing
  • All or part of an academic year
  • Recipients pay in-state tuition
  • Receive cash award ($500 per semester)
  • Rarely extended beyond one academic year
  • Recipients are expected to take 3 courses or 9 hours each semester
  • Admission and Scholarship application deadline February 1st

Endowed Presidential Scholarships (named EPS Awards)

  • Based on academic standing
  • A full academic year
  • Receive a cash award ($1000 per semester)
  • Does not include out-of-state tuition waiver
  • Rarely extended beyond one academic year
  • Recipients are expected to take 3 courses or 9 hours each semester
  • Admission and Scholarship application deadline February 1st
