School of Information Travel Awards Application Procedure

The School of Information receives a small allocation annually from the Graduate School to support students’ travel to present papers/posters at professional conferences. Priority is given to doctoral students. Since funding is limited and available on a first come, first served basis, it is possible that not all applicants will receive an award.

To receive an award students must be registered during the semester in which the award is made. The summer registration requirement is waived provided the student was registered during the preceding spring semester.

To apply for a professional development travel award please:

  • Submit the application form, with paper’s abstract and proof of its acceptance at the conference to Carla Criner, Assistant Dean for Student Services.
  • Carla Criner will bring the application to The Awards Committee who will review the application and make a recommendation for a travel award.
  • Once a recommendation has been made, the graduate advisor will sign the application form.
  • Application form is forwarded to the Graduate School for final approval.
  • Once the award has been approved, the Graduate School will send an award letter to the student providing instructions on how the student can receive the award.
