Using the Internet for Technical Training and Support

Where do you go when you need help with your computer or to find out how to design a simple Web page for your library? If you are lucky, you have a technologist on your campus whose primary job is tech support and training for teachers and who has time to answer your questions about Microsoft Word, help you make a PowerPoint presentation for a class you are teaching, or design a Web page for you. If you are sort of lucky, this person will at least tell you what to do, as he is teaching technology classes of his own as probably doesn't have much time. However, most of us either don't have a technology teacher on campus or she is too busy to work with us. More than likely, you wear additional hats and you are the technology person on your campus. If you are like most school librarians, you are responsible for teaching yourself and for supporting teachers and students.

This page should help you with technical support for common applications and for Web design if you are trying to create a virtual library for your school.
