Demos

Machine Translation tools are based on advanced computational linguistic analysis. MT software linguistically process source documents to create a translation from scratch. Although not 100% accurate, the demos listed below help users get the "gist" of the document they are trying to translate. Once you have an idea of what the document says the user can decide if it warrants further translation or not.

Free Online Translation Demos
A collection of translation demos in many languages. Contains links to Finnish-to-English, Esparanto-to- English, and English-to-Spanish, French, Russian, Japanese etc.

Interactive Systems Labs - INTERACTIVE DEMOS
More demos from those guys at Carnegie Mellon. Mainly this site is about the research that is being conducted on speech recognition, neural nets, and machine translation. The Interactive Systems Lab's aim is to develop user interfaces that improve human-machine and human-to-human communication.
ISI Machine Translation A collection of parsers and demos from the Information Sciences Institute at USC. SENSUS, the Ontology Development Effort looked promising but the server was down.

Carnegie Mellon's Center for Machine Translation

"The center's goal is to build artificially intelligent systems capable of translating a variety of languages, with a special emphasis on English, Japanese, French, Spanish and German. They have already produced several translation software packages like Pangloss, Shogun, Janus and Kant. Among the projects they are working on is a rapid deployment project for the U.S. Department of Defense: a Serbo-Croatian to English rapid translation system. "

The KANT Project Home Page: One of CMU's projects. KANT uses a controlled vocabulary and grammar for each source

Stochastic Language Identifier This system is supposed to identify the language of some text but everything: I tried didn't work. Maybe some day when all the bugs are worked out of MachineTranslation this will actually be a useful tool.
