Course Templates
Chances are that you will want to have parts of your web site consistant. For example, the "look and feel" of the site should be similar for each page, so that an individual using the site will know which pages are on the site itself and won't be confused when he or she leaves via external link. Site navigation should also be relatively constant.
Now that you know something about Dreamweaver Site Management, you can use Templates. Templates offer two major advantages. First, they provide an overall consistency for the site. Second, they allow you to make several site-wide changes in a very short time.

A Dreamweaver Template is basically an HTML page that has certain portions marked as editable (the parts of your page that will be changing on each new page) and portions marked as uneditable (the parts that you want to remain the same from page to page).

This image of the GSLIS Course Template has three editable sections, two of which you can see from the image itself. The first editable section is the page title, which you can change by selecting Modify > Page Properties. The other two are labeled and highlighted in blue: "body" and "bottom." As you create new pages, these are the sections that will change from page to page. The rest should be fairly consistent (although not necessarily what you see here- we'll talk about that more in "Using the GSLIS Course Template."
